Social Bookmark WebsitesGenerating free traffic, black-links and getting exposure through Social Bookmarking Websites.

Let me share with you a very common way for generating free traffic that I use on a daily basis on my websites and each time I make a new blog post, if you are familiar with Generating Traffic and Online Advertising then you more likely already know about Social Bookmarking websites.

As described on Wikipedia “Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to organize, store, manage and search for bookmarks of resources online.” Translated to common English, those are websites where you save your links (bookmarks) and everyone has access to them.

In the last few years these Social Bookmarking websites have become a phenomenon and are extremely huge, with high PageRank and being in the top visited websites on the net. Is great to have the possibility to have your information listed there.

Generating Free Traffic and Advertising through Social Bookmarking is one of the easiest thing you will ever do online to get traffic but the amount of traffic will always depend on your Bookmark: title, description, tags and finally the quality of your content. If your contact is good people will share it with others by giving you good feedback.

So here is how I generate traffic through Social Bookmarking Websites.

Each time I make a new post in my blog that I consider relevant to others or that can attract people’s attention I share it through these websites. There are different ways to do this, you can simple go to each website and click on “Add Url”, “Add Bookmark”, “Share Link”, etc. Or by using one of the services that provide quick links to each website.

At the bottom of this post you can see a yellow bar with several icons, thats the Addthis social bookmarking bar. This service is so widely used that almost every website related software, script, theme, program comes with it per default.

If you like this post you can choose to share it (so is not me necessarily sharing it which makes it a viral tool) using one of the many Social Bookmarks available which includes, Twitter, Delicious, Digg, Buzz, Reddit, etc.

Social Bookmarking Websites

Once you are done with your website, post, blog, affiliate link or product all you have to do is click on each icon and fill the details, you will only be asked the website link, title and tags, must of the time the title and link will be filled so you only need to put in the description and tags which is also optional but recommended for better results.

Let’s say you just made a post and share it on 10 different Social Bookmarking Websites and get 5 hits from each website, that’s a total of 50 hits to your website for 5 minutes of work, the traffic is totally free and of course if they like the content they are going to come back for more or even better share it with others.

The easiest way to share your website using the above described method is by using the AddThis application.

You can find a version that will fit your needs : WordPress, Blogger, Joomla, Drupal or any type of coding you are doing.

Here is a list of the top Social Bookmarking websites and then ones I use on a daily basis to share my posts.

1- Delicious.com
2- Furl.net
3- Digg.com
4- StumbleUpon.com
5- JumpTags.com
6- Reddit.com
7- Twitter.com
8- Technorati.com
9- Blinklist.com
10- Facebook.com

On top of the Free Traffic and Exposure that you get by sharing your links on Social Bookmarking websites it also gives you an additional benefit… Backlinks. If you don’t own a website or blog then this does not concern you but if you do backlinks can highly increase your Search Engine Exposure by giving you better rank and higher placement on search results.

A lot can be discussed about Backlinks but that is another topic, for additional information about backlinks you can always search on Google or contact me, I will post about it in the future.
